WelcomeThe Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained IBI Group to conduct a study for the Detail Design of a new Highway 5 and Highway 6 interchange and associated Municipal road network in the City of Hamilton, as well as a new commuter parking lot in the vicinity of the interchange. The study additionally includes Preliminary Design for the various municipal roads and new commuter parking lot. The purpose of these improvements is to enhance traffic flow and address future capacity issues within the study area. A key plan outlining the study area is presented below. This study is following the planning process for Group "B" projects under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO 2000), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. For more information regarding the details of the study, please visit the Background and Study Overview tabs. Two (2) Public Information Centres (PICs) are planned for this study. The first PIC was held on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at the St. Thomas Apostle Church (715 Centre Road, Waterdown, Ontario). The location of the PIC is presented on the key plan below.
